While you’re doing that you’ll need to complete the rest of the Aceable course to get a certificate of completion. Once you have a Texas learners permit in hand you can choose your behind-the-wheel provider and start the driving portion of drivers ed. It’s a total of 32 hours of “classroom” instruction, but you can take the learners permit exam within the Aceable app after finishing the first six hours. This course is also for young drivers between the ages of 14 and 17 years old. What if your parents aren't licensed to drive? Or it’s not the best teacher/student combination? If that’s the case you’ll want to sign up for a Texas Instructor Taught Drivers Ed course. Once you’ve completed the drivers ed course and required number of practice hours behind the wheel you can apply for a full drivers license as long as you’ve had a permit for six months or longer.
